Malaga
It is easy to understand why Malaga City is dubbed the Capital of the Costa del Sol. Whereas it was once considered to be the poor cousin of Andalusia’s capital city, Seville, it now competes successfully for attention. Since the opening of the already well acclaimed Picasso Museum in 2003, cultural tourists have been flocking to this and the now beautifully refurbished birthplace of the great artist, all in the heart of the historic centre of the city.

Torremolinos
Torremolinos has thankfully long outgrown its Monty Python spam and chips image and, over recent years, has evolved as an attractive and appealing resort noted for its clean sandy beaches, wide choice of hotels and restaurants and unparalleled variety of entertainment, activities and nightlife available.

Marbella
Marbella is one of the original Costa del Sol resorts, made famous by becoming Europe's playground for the rich and famous.Indeed, mention the name Marbella and it usually conjures up images of plush hotels, casinos, multi-million dollar yachts and Ferraris. But today Marbella is not exclusively for the jet-set. Being only 30 minutes drive to the west of Malaga airport and with the recent increase in airlines providing cheap flights, the resort is within very easy reach for most people and has become a popular destination.

Fuengirola
The former fishing village of Fuengirola today is one of the most popular holiday destinations not only for foreign travellers but also for Spanish people who often own a holiday retreat here. What makes the town so attractive to holidaymakers are without doubt the 8 km of beautiful beaches that can be found here. A promenade with restaurants and bars as well as apartment buildings and hotels which are offering stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea flank the coastline.

Nerja
Nerja is the Costa del Sol's most easterly resort, 50 km from Malaga airport. Originally a sleepy fishing village it is now a thriving resort but has managed to retain much of its original character and charm. It is still at heart a Spanish village and the old part of the town has narrow, winding streets with whitewashed houses. In amongst these streets you can find shops selling local art and craftwork, typical jewellery and local products.

Inland Costa del Sol
Andalucia travellers tend to focus on the justifiably world-famous cities of Seville, Granada, and Cordoba. However, the historic but far less well known town of Antequera is equally worth a visit and its relative lack of fame means that its essential Andalucian charm remains undimmed by coach parties and souvenir shops.
